While my visit in Paris, I was invited to the fashion show of Chanel that took place in the Grand Palais. I really enjoyed the show, as well as the collection. The introduction of pink and green colours gives a very nice touch on the usually black and white tweed clothes. Among the guests were Kate Moss, Claudia Schiffer, Mila Jovovich, Lily Allen, Mario Testino, Freida Pinto, Olga Kurylengo, Anna Mouglalis, etc. I have to add that the general organisation of the sho was exceptional.

Durante mi visita a Paris, fui invitada al desfile de Chanel en el Grand Palais. Disfruté muchisimo del desfile como también de la colección. La introducción del color rosa y verde da un toque muy bonito a la colección que normalmente es en blanco y negro. Algunos de los invitados eran Kate Moss, Claudia Schiffer, Mila Jovovich, Lily Allen, Mario Testino, Freida Pinto, Olga Kurylengo, Anna Mouglalis, etc. Debo añadir que la organización en general era fantastica.

1st Cannes Film Festival

These days Cannes opened its doors to the 61st film festival. It all started back in 1939 when Jean Zay, the French minister for Public Instruction and Arts, proposed the creation of an international film event in France. Cannes was chosen for its "sunshine and enchanting setting". However, the first International Film Festival was postponed due to the war.

On the 20th September, 1946, the International Film Festival - the first important international postwar cultural event - opened its doors at the former Casino of Cannes. The festival schedule included Austrian-American director Billy Wilder's The Lost Weekend, Italian director Roberto Rossellini's Open City, French director René Clement's The Battle of the Rails, and British director David Lean's Brief Encounter.

It is one of the world's oldest, most influential and prestigious film festivals. It is held annually (usually in the month of May) at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, in Cannes. The most prestigious award given out at Cannes is the Palme d'Or for the best film.

Estos dias Cannes ha abierto sus puertas para la 61 edición de festival de cine. Todo empezó en el el 1939 cuando Jean Zay, el Ministro Frances de Instrucciones publicas y Artes, propuso la creación de un evento de cine internacional en Francia. Se eligió la ciudad de Cannes por su 'buen clima y su encantador escenario'. Sin embargo, el primer Festival de Cine Internacional se aplazó por el inicio de la guerra.

El dia 20 de Septiembre de 1946, el Festival de Cine Internacional - el primer evento internacional importante después de la guerra - abrió a sus puertas en lo que era antes el Casino de Cannes. El calendario de festival incluia 'The Lost Weekend' pelicula de director Billy Wilder, 'The Open City' de Roberto Rosselini, 'The Battle of Rails' de René Clement, y 'Brief Encounter' de David Lean.

Frank Horvat's very first fashion photograph

Frank Horvart is one of my favourite photographers. He started as a photo reporter, but what made him really famous and popular were his collaborations during the 50s with prestigious fashion magazines such as Vogue, Elle, and Stern.

His very first fashion photographs were taken at the Alta Moda show in Firenze, on assignment for the monthly Illustrazione Italiana. He was paid 5000 lire per photograph (the price of a reasonable meal in a trattoria). The present image is the only one of this series available from his digital files (1950).

Frank Horvart es uno de mis fotógrafos favoritos. Empezó como foto reportero, pero lo que le hizo realmente famoso y popular fueron sus colaboraciones durante la década de los cincuenta con prestigiosas revistas de moda como Vogue, Elle y Stern. Sus primeras fotografías de moda las hizo en la feria de Alta Moda en Florencia, para Illustrazione Italiana. Le pagaron 5000 liras por foto (el precio de una cena en una trattoria). Esta foto es la única de la serie disponible de sus archivos digitales (1950).

The new Gentleman

Men sometimes seem to have forgotten how a man shall be dressed and how he shall behave. Throughout history, men as well as women have been judged by the cut of their clothing, the style of their hair, the quality and quantity of their accessories, and their behaviour. Looking good and behave well, has always contributed to one's success in business, relationships, and social status.

There are many men out there that do not change their favourite pair of jeans or t-shirt even if they have to attend formal ceremonies such as weddings and christenings. You only have to think of all these men in past centuries that were required to wear lacy cravats, tons of make up, tights, strange shoes, and wigs. At that time ribbons showed power, and lace good breeding.

In 1886, the famous book Martine's Handbook of Etiquette stated what was necessary for a gentleman of that time, something that can be applied even today:

"A well dressed man does not require so much an extensive as a varied wardrobe. He wants a different costume for every season and every occasion; but if what he selects is simple rather than striking, he may appear in the same clothes as often as he likes, as long as they are fresh and appropriate to the season and the object"
"...a gentleman has to attract the attention only because of his elegance and good behaviour; never for the excess of his jewellery or vulgar taste of dressing up..."
"...a gentleman's dress should be studiously neat, leaving no other impression than that of a well dressed gentleman..."

Although nowadays ribbons and laces are not quite necessary, still lots of men confuse the concept of being well dressed or following the etiquette, with being old fashioned. This is absolutely not the case. A well cut suit with a good quality fabric, together with the correct behaviour are still important tags for elegance and social status.

Forget your t-shirts, jeans and sneakers at least once in a while. Forget that manners and chivalry are out of fashion. We need nice looking and elegant men again.

.A veces parece que los hombres han olvidado como tienen que vestirse y como tienen que comportarse. A lo largo de la historia, los hombres y las mujeres han sido juzgados por el corte de su ropa, el estilo de su pelo, la calidad y la cantidad de sus accesorios y su comportamiento. Tener un buen aspecto y comportarse bien, ha contribuido siempre al éxito que uno pueda tener en sus relaciones y en su posición social.

Hay muchos hombres que no cambiarían sus vaqueros favoritos o su camiseta favorita ni para ceremonias formales como es una boda o un bautizo. Solo tenéis que pensar en todos estos hombres de siglos pasados que estaban obligados de llevar corbatas de encaje, mucho maquillaje, medias, zapatos extraños y pelucas. En aquella época los lazos representaban poder y los encajes la buena clase.

En el 1886, el famoso libro Martine’s Handbook of Etiquette, indico que exactamente era necesario para un hombre en aquella época, algo que se puede aplicar en el dia de hoy:

"Un hombre bien vestido no requiere una guardarropa extensiva sino una guardarropa variada. Necesita un traje para cada época y para cada ocasión; pero si lo que elige es simple y no llamativo, entonces puede aparecer con el mismo traje las veces que quiera, siempre que sea limpio y apropiado para la época y el objetivo…Un caballero tiene que llamar la atención por su elegancia y buenos modales y no por la excesiva cantidad de accesorios o su gusto vulgar en la hora de vestirse...La ropa de un caballero tiene que ser estudiosamente aseada, dejando ninguna otra impresión que no sea la de un caballero bien vestido".

Aunque hoy en día los lazos y los encajes no son necesarios, todavía muchos hombres confunden el concepto de ser bien vestido o de seguir la etiqueta como si fuera algo de moda pasada. Esto no es el caso para nada. Un traje con un buen corte y de buen tejido, junto con un comportamiento correcto, aun hoy en día son buenas etiquetas de elegancia y de estatus social.

Olvidad vuestras camisetas, vaqueros y sneakers de vez en cuanto. Olvidad que modales y caballerosidad estan pasados de moda. Necesitamos hombres elegantes y bien vestidos de nuevo.

Philip Treacy launches Royal Ascot 2008

Apart from its famous horserace, Royal Ascot is also famous for its hats and outfits. Philip Treacy, the master of hats, is getting ready for this year’s event. He has created and photographed this amazing image. The model is Martha Sitwell, wearing Alexander McQueen. Charles Barnett, Ascot Racecourse's chief executive, is thrilled with the result, calling it "the epitome of sophistication and style". We all love the result!

Louis Vuitton's TV spot

A few nights ago while watching TV, the Louis Vuitton monogram appeared on screen. I thought that it was impossible for this brand to advertise on TV. I immediately thought that it could be an airline commercial…or perhaps a life insurance commercial. Texts were appearing on the screen telling us about how life is a journey…not a journey in terms of vacation, but in terms of self-discovery. Surprisingly enough, it ended up being a Louis Vuitton advertisement. I could not believe it as it was the first time that this brand of luxury luggage made a TV spot. The first thing I thought was not whether the spot was nice or not…I thought: why is Louis Vuitton doing this? What is the purpose behind it? Thinking about it, the reason could be to attract the masses as well as new markets such as China. This might be very interesting knowing that China is the country that produces the biggest quantities of fake bags.

The question is: Is Louis Vuitton still considered a luxury brand? If this is the case, then why attract the masses?

Surely this spot is going to make people buying Louis Vuitton bags identify themselves with the spirit of the spot, and make them feel more sophisticated. On the other hand, real travellers will see this as a joke. Nowadays, Louis Vuitton is definitely not a travelling experience as once used to be. To go back to what the image of the brand once was, the whole image perception has to change.

The only thing I can say is that many people that will buy a 2000$ bag to accompany them to their trip of self-discovery, will only make them discover they have a problem with cash in their pocket.

Apart from all I believe it is a very special clip and the music is really nice…it simply doesn’t match with the product. I am really missing how Louis Vuitton was just 8 years ago.

Final thought: Holding my Louis Vuitton bag, I am just about to enter a canoe in order to cross the Amazon. I suddenly think I have nothing to do with Anacondas, Piranhas and Arapaimas, and that Scarlet Johanson is waiting for me for a coffee.

Hace unas noches mientras veía la televisión, el monograma de Louis Vuitton apareció en la pantalla. Pensé que era imposible que esta marca estaba anunciando sus productos por televisión. Al principio pensé que es un anuncio de una aerolínea…luego pensé que es un anuncio de seguros de vida. Textos aparecían en la pantalla diciéndonos que la vida es un viaje. No un viaje en términos de vacaciones, sino en términos de descubrir a uno mismo. Por sorpresa, resultó ser un spot publicitario de Louis Vuitton. No me lo podía creer ya que es la primera vez esta marca de equipaje de lujo hace un spot publicitario. Lo primero que pensé no era si me gusto el anuncio o no. Pensé porque hace esto Louis Vuitton y cual es la razón detrás de todo. Pensándolo, me imagino que la razón es para atraer a las masas y a mercados nuevos como por ejemplo China. Esto será muy un dato muy Interesante al pensar que China es el país que mas copias de bolsos fabrica.

La pregunta es: ¿todavía Louis Vuitton se considera una marca de lujo? Y si este es el caso entonces ¿porque atraer a las masas?

Seguramente este anuncio hará sentir a los que compran Louis Vuitton mucho más sofisticados y espirituales. Por otro lado, los verdaderos viajantes pensaran que esto es una broma. Hoy en día, Louis Vuitton seguramente no es una experiencia de viaje como errase una vez. Para recuperar la imagen que la empresa tenia, la percepción hacia la marca tiene que cambiar.

La única cosa que puedo decir es que comprando un bolso de 2000$ para un viaje de descubrimiento personal, la única cosa que algunos descubrirán será que tienen problemas con el cash-flow.

Aparte de todo, creo que es un clip muy especial con una música preciosa…Simplemente el spot no pega con el producto. En cualquier caso, echo de menos a Louis Vuitton de hasta hace 8 años.

Una última nota: Con mi bolso de Louis Vuitton, estoy a punto de entrar en una canoa para cruzar el Amazonas. En este mismo instante pienso que no tengo nada que ver con Anacondas, Pirañas, y Arapaimas, y que Scarlet Johanson me esta esperando para tomar un café.

Mark Shaw's early black & white photos

American photographer Mark Shaw (1922- 1969) is mostly known for his photographs of the Kennedy family taken during their years in the White House. However, prior to this, Shaw was dedicated to fashion photography.

These previously unseen photos are from a series taken by Shaw early in his career when he was working in the fashion world (1950s). Andrew Wilder, an old friend of the family, was the first gallery owner to recognize the enormous potential of Mark Shaw’s fashion images. The Andrew Wilder Gallery at Svenska Mobler is now exclusively offering a growing selection of Mark Shaw's unique fashion prints. Edition is limited to 30 prints.

I believe the photos are beautiful, and the dresses simply amazing.

El fotógrafo Americano Mark Shaw (1922-1969), es conocido por las fotografías que hizo de la familia Kennedy durante sus años en la Casa Blanca. Sin embargo, antes de este trabajo, Shaw se dedicaba al la fotografia en el mundo de la moda.

Burberry: The Art of Trench

Since very long time ago the trench coat is considered as one of the most elegant and stylish pieces of clothing. Timeless, chic, basic but highly sophisticated, it kept its originality since it was born.

Everything started back in 1856 when a 21 year old boy named Thomas Burberry opened an outfitters shop in Hampshire, England. Just 10 years later the shop had grown into an emporium. By 1880, Thomas Burberry invented a whetherpoof and tearproof fabric that he called gabardine.

In 1895,the Tielochen coat was developed by Burberry, which was the predecessor of the trench coat. This coat was used by British officers during the Boer War in South Africa .The design of the Tielochen coat was modified during the First World War to include shoulder straps and D-rings. The ‘trench coat’ was then born. Many soldiers returning from the war kept their trench coats and wore them in their every day life. Therefore, the trench coat became popular and fashionable for both men and women. .

In 1920, the Burberry classic check was introduced as lining to the trench coat. The classic trench coat was as it is today: with ten buttons, double-breasted, made with beige, khaki, tan, or black fabric, and often with belt.

Burberry is considered as the most luxury brand for outerwear items. Especially in the case of the trench coat as it is a classic of the Burberry brand. A lot of designers imitate it, but the Burberry one is unique. Classic in many films as it was worn by Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca, Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's, and by Peter Sellers in the Pink Panther films. It cannot get more classic than that. The company's clientele has included Winston Churchill (wearing a trench coat on almost every public appearance), Gary Cooper, Joan Crawford, George Bernard Shaw, Al Jolson, Peter Falk, Ronald Reagan, Norman Schwarzkopf, and Paul Newman. Today, the trench coat is still one of the world's most popular items of clothing. As an advertisement of the brand once stated: ‘From a 17th century smock to a 20th century whethercoat…the principle is the same…a cloth for all seasons…a garment for all the elements’. Definitely a worthy investment!.

Notes: In 1901, the Equestrian Knight trademark appeared, which is kept until today. The latin word ‘prorsum’ is written on the flag that the knight is holding meaning ‘forwards’. In 1955, Queen Elizabeth II awarded Burberry with a Royal Warrant. Then in 1989, a second Royal warrant was granted to the firm by The Prince of Wales. In 2002, Burberry launched a made-to-measure trench coat service which is called ‘the art of trench’. Custom measuring for both men and women assures proper sleeve and coat length and correct belt position.

En el 1920, el famoso estampado check de Burberry se ha introducido como forro en el abrigo. El trench coat clásico era como el de hoy: con diez botones, botonadura doble, hecho en colores como el beige, tan, caqui, o negro, y normalmente con cinturón.

Burberry se considera como una de las marcas mas lujosas para prendas para el aire libre. Especialmente en el caso de trench, ya que es un clasico de la casa. Muchos diseñadores lo han imitado, pero el de Burberry es único. Clásico también en muchas películas ya que lo ha llevado Meter Sellers en las películas de Pink Panther, Humphrey Bogart en Casablanca, y Audrey Hepburn en Desayuno con Diamantes. This is the first edition of Vogue as magazine. You could think that is the cover of an old fairy tale book. This issue came out in September 1916 and the editor was Elspeth Champcommunal. Among its advertisements you could see those of Burberry, Rolls-Royce, and Perrier. The price of it was one shilling..

Esta es la portada de la primera edición de Vogue como revista. Parece mas bien la portada de un libro viejo de cuentos de niños. Esta edición salio en Septiembre de 1916 y la editora era Elspeth Champcommunal. Entre los variados anuncios se podian ver los de Burberry, Rolls-Royce y Perrier. Costaba un shilling.

Chanel: The world's trendiest carousel

For the fashion show of Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld made a big statement with the huge carousel placed in the middle of the Grand Palais. The fairground traditional horses were replaced by quilted huge handbags, bracelets, strings of pearls, hats, shoes, and camelias. At the end of the show, the models went on this giant accessories as the carousel twirled. Then Lagerfeld appeared to lead the models out. Next season's must-have Chanel accessory will surely be the tights: black at the back, and nude, textured or lacey, at the front. Chanel continues making history!

Whatever the occasion, the little black dress guarantees a sophisticated, elegant, and stylish look.

The Little Black Dress became Chanel’s signature garment, but the one that really made it a star was Audrey Hepburn. Who doesn't remember her in the famous film 'Breakfast at Tiffany’s' wearing an amazingly elegant black dress by Hubert de Givenchy and accessorized with pearls? It is one of the most legendary movies ever!

In her early films, the cartoon character Betty Boop was drawn wearing a little black dress. Later in the 30s when free expression was stopped, a more straight-laced style, with a longer dress was imposed. Afterwards her black dress was changed to a red one.

The Duchess of Windsor, Wallis Simpson, famous for having lots of little black dresses, once said: “When the little black dress is right, there is nothing else to wear in its place”. Jackie Onnasis also had fascination for this garment. Oleg Cassini was designing smart black dresses for her, and she was always accessorising them with her famous oversize sunglasses. Rita Hayworth also had a passion for them, and indeed she looked great and glamorous.

Dr. Valerie Steele, Director and Chief Curator of the Museum of the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, found it so important and so gorgeous as a garment, that she wrote a book about it. A book full of photos of dresses designed from Coco Chanel to Christian Dior, and iconic images of movie legends such as Audrey Hepburn and Rita Hayworth.

Didier Ludot owns the most famous vintage clothing store in Paris.Ludot has built and maintained a collection of black dresses with designs by Chanel, Balmain, Balenciaga, and Gaultier, and others. Photographs of these dresses as well as photos of Catherine Deneuve, Sofia Loren, Edith Piaf, Paloma Picasso, and Elizabeth Taylor in their black dress can be seen in her book Little Black Dress: Vintage Treasure. A tour from yesterday to today.

In her book ‘the little black dress’, Amy Holman Edelman also presents photos and illustrations of this delightful garment.

Melissa Clark and Robin Aronson wrote a very fun-to-read book which is called 'The Skinny: How to Fit Into Your Little Black Dress Forever'. It gives you advice on how to eat when you absolutely must fit into your dress by the weekend, and it comes with more than 75 amazing recipes.

Milano Fashion week has come to its end. Like always, we have seen a little bit of everything. Design, interesting hairdos, make up, elegant collections and not that elegant collections. But the true protagonists sometimes are the shoes, the bags, and the accessories. Indeed in some cases I found them far more interesting than the clothes. Here I include a small selection of the ones I mostly like, and the ones that I find...let's just say, a bit peculiar. La semana de la moda de Milan ha llegado a su fin. Como siempre hemos visto de todo. Diseño, peinados interesantes, bolsos, maquillaje, colecciónes elegantes y no tan elegantes. Pero a veces los verdaderos protagonistas son los zapatos, los bolsos, y los accesorios. En unas colecciónes los encontré mucho mas interesantes que las prendas mismas. Aqui teneis una pequeña selección de los que más me han gustado, y de los que me han parecido...bueno, digamos un poco curiosos.

Alessandro Dell'Acqua. As I like the clothes collection, I also like the shoe collection. The designer manage to present a very elegant collection in all aspects.

Gucci. Frida Giannini created a collection that can be described as Russian hippy. Nothing to do with the elegance and luxury that this brand was offering us until now. However, with a 'closer' look some things look a little bit better...very little thought. Pitty!

Fendi. I really like this colection of accessories of Fendi. I find them very chic and very lady like. Especially these ankle boots. I think they are very special. Fendi is one of the best in mastering fur and leather.

Of course we cannot forget the collections of clothes. The collection I liked a lot is the one of 6267 designed by Tommaso Aquilano and Roberto Rimondi. 6267 black and white inspirations.

Claramente no podemos olvidar las colecciónes de ropa. La colección de Tomaso Aquilano y Roberto Rimondi para 6267 me ha gustado mucho. 6267 inspiraciones en blanco y negro.

Versace. Donatella offered us a very different collection to the ones we are used to:serious. Far from the style of Versace. Much better.

Christina Ortiz, the new designer of Ferragamo, created a very simple but quite luxurious collection…silk is the main material of the collection. Class is back!

Furthermore, I found the jackets and coats of Maurizio Pecoraro very interesting. Especially the black coat of the first photo. I love the volume of the sleeves.

He encontrado muy interesantes las chaquetas y abrigos de Maurizio Pecoraro. Especialmente el abrigo negro de la primera foto. Me encanta el volumen de las mangas.

Daks. The designer Giles Deacon made a very feminine collection for Daks, mainly using leather. Pencil skirts, orange coats, beautiful dresses.

Moschino. In the collection of Moschino as well, electric blue becomes the king. Creative director Rosella Jardini remains faithful to the style of the brand. Once more the coats and the jackets are decorated with medals, pins, and anchors. I know somebody who is going to love the collection and will be looking forward to having some pieces in her wardrobe.

Legendary and Luxurious Loewe

One of my favourite brands is Loewe. The reason is not the four'Ls', but because it is synonymous to high quality, uniqueness, perfection, and elegance. Simply ‘L’ of Luxury. Everything started back in 1846, a year that Madrid was getting ready for the celebration of two royal weddings. The one of Isabel II of Bourbon to the Duke of Cadiz, and the other one of Princess Maria Luisa Fernanda to the Duke of Montpensier. At that same year a few Spanish craftsmen opened a little leather workshop in the centre of the city. They were producing wallets, bags, cigar cases, coin holders, etc. Some years later, in 1872, Enrique Loewe Roessberg, a German craftsman specialised in leather, came to the city. He was so much impressed by the quality of work of the Spanish craftsmen, that he decided to join them in partnership. LOEWE was then born.

In 1905, King Alfonso XII gave the company the title of official supplier of the Royal House. At that time Enrique Loewe Hinton was in charge of the company. Five years later, Loewe opens its first shop in Barcelona. In 1934, Enrique Loewe Knappe becomes the director of the company, and he is the one that in opens in 1939 the mythical Gran Via shop in Madrid.

In 1945 the designer Perez de Rozas creates the box calf bag, the one that later became the classic bag of the firm. During 50s, Loewe creates a very special relationship with the European Aristocracy and the Royal Houses. Shah of Iran, and Grace Kelly of Monaco were some of the most faithful clients of the brand.

In 1963 Loewe starts its international expansion, and it opens a shop in London. In 1970, Vicente Vela creates the mythical logo of Loewe. The same year, Loewe enters the world of prêt-a-porter, and also designs its first scarves. Prestigious designers such as Karl Lagerfeld and Laura Biagiotti sign the first collections for women.. The first perfume of the company is created in 1972, with the name L of Loewe. However, it was not until 1983 that the company decided to enter into men’s fashion. Giorgio Armani was the creator.

In 1985 the brand signs a distribution agreement with Louis Vuitton. In 1989 the first shop opens in Paris, on Avenue Montagne. In 1996 , when Loewe celebrates its 150 anniversary, the brand was sold to the LVMH group, the world’s luxury leader .

In 1997 the designer Narciso Rodriguez becomes responsible of the prêt-a-porter collection. A year after, the fashion show of Loewe takes place for the first time in Paris. José Enrique Oña Selfa was the designer until 2007. After working for Louis Vuitton and Mulberry, Stuart Vevers is the actual designer of the firm.

Loewe is internationally recognised as a brand dedicated to leather and luxury ready-to-wear. The most representative leather that the company is using is the Nappa 7000, considered as the highest quality leather in the world. The process is very challenging, thus making the leather goods of the firm unique. Apart from its legendary leather, silk also has a special position in the luxurious world of Loewe. It is known for its high quality and refinement.

The bag I mostly like is the Amazona bag. This bag was created in 1974 by Dario Rossi. It is a very simple and urban bag, but at the same time very elegant and very dynamic. It is a model that evolved in dimensions, colours, and styles...and it always looks good. I believe is the perfect bag for all times.

Loewe also has a made to measure service. Now, the clients can choose the size, the colour, the leather, and the texture of their bag. Therefore, you can now have a unique bag of Loewe. As I mentioned above, the production is very challenging. The bags are going through five different manual processes.

The firm has a history of 160 years. 160 years of enormous success in the world of luxury … Loewe is just becoming a legend.

Una de mis marcas favoritas es Loewe. Y no es solo questión de los 4 'Ls', sino porque es sinonimo de único, de calidad alta, de perfección, y de elegancia. Simplemente 'L' de Lujo. Todo empezó en el año 1846. Madrid se estaba preparando para celebrar dos bodas reales. La casa Loewe tiene un servicio de bolsos hechos a medida. Ahora los clientes pueden elegir el tamaño, el color, el cuero, y la textura de su bolso. Así que ahora se puede tener un bolso único de Loewe. Antes había mencionado que la producción es bastante desafiante. Los bolsos pasan por cinco diferentes procesos hechos a mano.

Loewe casa tiene 160 años de historia. 160 años de éxito en el mundo de lujo...Loewe se está convirtiendo en una leyenda.

The first fashion show of the day was the one of Giorgio Armani. The colours used for this collection were very similar to the ones used for the Emporio Armani one. The only colour added was the fucsia. The evening dresses have a very Spanish style. I can say that it is a very sophisticated and a very serious collection. The man of Armani is once again very well dressed.

El primer desfile de la jornada ha sido el de Giorgio Armani. Los colores utilizados para esta colección son muy similares a los de Emporio Armani. El único color añadido es el fucsia.Los vestidos de noche son muy estilo Español. Puedo decir que es una colección muy sofisticada y muy seria. El hombre de Armani por una vez mas se viste muy bien.

In the collection of Gianfranco Ferré, the dark dresses are combined with white stockings.

Christopher Bailey presented for Burberry Prorsum some very nice coats and dresses.

However, the two collections I mostly liked are the ones of Jil Sander and Pringle of Scotland. Raf Simons captured the spirit of Jil Sander and remained faithful to the austere style of the firm, but at the same time innovating. The collars of the garments are fabulous! The truth is that I am impressed from this collection and everytime I like this designer more. My favourite piece: the white coat on the first photo.
Sin embargo, las dos colecciones que más me han gustado son las de Jil Sander y Pringle of Scotland. Raf Simons captó el espiritu de Jil Sanders, y se mantuvo fiel al estilo austero de la firma, pero al mismo momento inovando. Los cuellos de las prendas son fabulosos.La verdad es que la colección me ha impresionado y cada vez este diseñador me gusta mas. Prenda favorita: El abrigo blanco de la primera photo.

On the other hand, Pringle of Scotland, presented a collection with a lot of asymmetry on the garments and a lot of femininity.

From one fashion week to the other. This week, starting yersterday, fashion speaks Italian. Milan is the capital of fashion. The first collection was presented by Francesco Scognamiglio. A very nice and a very correct collection. In this occasion, the designer combined nylon with silk. I love the total white look!

De una semana de moda a la otra. Esta semana, comenzando ayer, la moda habla italiano. Milano es ahora el capital de la moda. La primera colección presentada fue de Francesco Scognamiglio. Una colección muy bonita y muy correcta. En esta ocasión el diseñador ha combinando el nylon con la seda. ¡Me encanta el look blanco total!

I really like the combination of colours that Missoni is using in this collection. I love it when the brown and the grey are combined with the turquoise. I also like the main material that was used for this collection: cashmere.

Armani is always faithful to his concept which is elegance above all...both for men and women. Emporio Armani is a collection mainly in black and white. The other two colours the designer chose, are violet and blue. This makes these two colours the favourite ones of all of the designers this year.

The pasarela Cibeles has finished. Indeed the collections were very impressive. The designers used a lot the violet colour, as well as the black and white with a touch of red. The real protagonist, however, was the blue, especially on velvets and furs. I have chosen the designers and looks I mostly liked. My criteria always the same: quality of materials, right combination of colours, design, and aesthetics in terms of elegance. Apart from Miriam Ocariz and Ailanto that I presented a few days ago, my other favourite of this edition is the duo Victorio & Lucchino. I believe they did an excellent work, and they presented the most amazing collection of the Pasarela Cibeles. A collection that can presume of having all the ingredients of successful collection: elegance, sophistication, class, and style. They also made a fabulous collection for men. At last somebody who thought seriously how a man is supposed to be dressed, and got it right...Two and Only...Back to real elegance again! La pasarela Cibeles ya ha terminado. La verdad es que las colecciones eran muy impresionantes. Los diseñadores han utilizado mucho el color viola, el blanco y negro con toques de rojo. Sin embargo, el verdadero protagonista ha sido el azul, especialmente en tercio pelo y pieles. He elegido los diseñadores y looks que mas me han gustado. Mi criteria siempre igual: calidad de materiales, combinación correcta de colores, diseño, y aestetics en terminos de elegancia. Aparte de Miriam Ocariz y Ailanto que presenté hace unos dias, mi otro favorito de esta edición es el duo formado por Victorio & Lucchino. Creo que han hecho un trabajo excelente, y que presentaron la collección más increible de esta Pasarela Cibeles. Una colección que puede presumir tener todos los ingredientes de exito: elegancia, sofisticación,clase, y estilo. También han hecho una colección para hombres fabulosa. Por fin alquien que pensó seriamente como un hombre tiene que verstirse, y acertó...Dos y unicos...¡ De nuevo la elegancia verdadera!

Today is Valentine's day, so we have one more reason to talk about Pink Champagne. Of course we can talk about it in other ocasions, but in such a romantic situation, a few drops of the right stuff are very much appreciated. Indeed Pink Champagne has a very festive, fun, and romantic character, but also a serious one. Claramente podemos hablar de esto en otras ocasiones, pero en un dia romantico como hoy, unas gotas del liquido correcto son muy apreciadas. Es verdad que el Pink Champagne tiene un caracter festivo, divertido, y romantico, pero tambien serio. I will start with the Cuvée Rosé Brut of Laurent Perrier. This champagne is famous for its highly expressive bouquet. Precise and very crisp with a lasting impression of freshness, it has hints of soft red fruits, such as strawberries, redcurrants, raspberries and black cherries. Cuvée Rosé Brut makes a delicious apéritif and is an extraordinary match for red fruit desserts. Revered by wine-lovers for its flavours and by aesthetes for the beauty of its 17th century-style bottle, this champagne is one of the stars in the Laurent Perrier range.

The other star of Laurent Perrier is the Alexandra Rosé 1998. Bernard de Nonancourt took the opportunity of his elder daughter Alexandra’s marriage in 1987 to create this vintage rosé champagne. It indeed expresses the very highest standards epitomised by the House of Laurent-Perrier. Surely a luxury cuvée rosé, an exclusive and rare wine which occupies a unique niche in its range.

Preciso y muy crujiente, con una impresión duradera de frescura, tiene toques de suaves frutos rojos, como fresa, grosella roja, frambuesa, y cerezas negras. Cuvée Rosé Brut es un excelente aperitivo, y acompaña perfectemente bien postres con fruta roja. Admirado por los amantes de vino por su sabor, y por los estetas por la belleza de su botella estilo siglo 17, este champán es una de las estrellas de la gama de Laurent Perrier. La otra estrella de la casa es el Alexandra Rosé 1998. Bernard de Nonancourt tomó como oportunidad, la boda de su hija Alexandra en el 1987, para crear este Vintage Pink Champagne. Realmente expresa el maximo estandar personificado por Laurent Perrier. Seguramente un Pink Champagne de lujo, un vino exclusivo y raro, que ocupa un nicho de mercado unico en su gama.

Another luxury champagne producer that 'thought Pink' in 1998 was Pol Roger, thus creating the Pol Roger Brut Rosé 1998. This champagne has a taste of red fruits, with delicate and attractive aromas. Excellent with salmon and lightly cooked meals. Pol Roger is one of the few companies that still belong to the same family that founded it. The style of this producer has always been characterised by elegance.

Otra casa de lujo que en el 1998 'pensó en rosa', es el Pol Roger, que creó el Pol Roger Brut Rosé 1998. Este champán tiene sabor a fruta roja, y aromas delicados y atractivos. Excelente con el salmon, y con platos poco hechos. Pol Roger es una de las pocas grandes casas propiedad aún de la familia fundadora. El estilo de esta casa siempre se ha definido como elegante.

Then we have the Gosset Celebris 1998, one of my favourite champagnes. Silky and very fresh, this champagne is only produced when the year is excellent. It can be said that this is the champagne that Gosset is mostly proud of. The other one I could mention is the Gran Rosé of Gosset, with red fruit aromas such as red current, raspberry, and cherry with a spice of cinnamon. A very fresh, lively and delicate flavour. Ideal as aperitif, with pate, blue cheese or red fruit based desserts.

Tenemos tambien el Gosset Celebris 1998, uno de mis champan favoritos. Sedoso y fresco, este champán se elabora cuando el año es excelente. Se puede decir que el Gosset Celebris es el orgullo de la casa Gosset. El otro champán que puedo mencionar es el Gran Rosé de Gosset, con su aroma de fruta roja como la frambuesa,la grosella roja, la cereza, y con un toque a canela. Su sabor es muy fresco y muy delicado. Ideal como aperitivo, con pate, queso azul, y postres de fruta roja.

Another champagne very appropriate for the day, is the Veuve Clicquot Rosé of Clicquot. Made only in exceptional or vintage years, this champagne has an aroma of red fruits a taste of great structure. It perfectly matches with fish dishes, tuna sashimi, and fine meats.

Otro champán muy apropiado para la ocasion, es el Veuve Clicquot Rosé de Clicquot. Este champán se produce solamente en años excepcionales o vintage. Su aroma es de fruta roja, y su sabor de una gran estructura. Se combina muy bien con pescado, sashimi de atún, y carne.

I could not finish this article without mentioning some 'fashion' pink champagnes, such as the Rose Sauvage of Piper-Heidsieck and the Dom Perignon Rosé Vintage 1996. The first one is advertised with a very particular bottle designed by Viktor and Rolf. I have to say that when I saw it, I thought that it has a very interesting concept. As far as Dom Perignon is concerned, the campaign of the Dom Perignon Rose is lead by Eva Herzigova and created by Karl Lagerfeld. The truth is that they made a good job, as they managed to give a romantic and very luxurious image. Both are very good wines, and they match really well with light meals.

No podia terminar este articulo sin mencionar algunos 'fashion' Pink Champagnes, como por ejemplo el Rosé Sauvage de Piper-Heidsieck, y el Dom Perignon Rosé Vintage 1996. El primero se anuncia con una botella bastante peculiar, diseñada por Victor and Rolf. La verdad es que cuando la vi, me hizo mucha gracia. Encontré el concepto bastante interesante. Por otro lado, tenemos el champán de Dom Perignon, donde la campaña de publicidad es protagonizada por Eva Herzigova y creada por Karl Lagerfeld. La verdad es que ha salido un trabajo muy bonito, y han consequido dar una imagen romantica y lujosa. Ambos vinos son muy buenos, y se combinan bien con platos ligeros.

New York Fashion Week

Yesterday was the last day of New York Fashion. I can say that I was not really impressed from this year's collections. The only collection that I really liked, was the one of Rock and Republic. The brand proposed a very masculine 'total black' look, but at the same time very feminine and amazingly elegant. The suits have a perfect cut. The only pieces presented in other colour that was not black, were some beautiful dresses in violet colour.

Ayer fue el utlimo dia de New York Fashion Week. Lo que puedo decir es que este año no he sido impresionada de las colecciones. La unica coleccion que realmente me ha gustado es de Rock and Republic. La marca ha propuesto un estilo 'total black' bastante masculino, pero al mismo momento muy femenino y elegante. Los trajes tienen un corte impresionante. Las unicas piezas no negras, eran unos bellisimos vestidos en color viola.

What about Bill Blass and Zac Posen? I found their work quite sophisticated and very stylish.

Some pieces of Matthew Williamson were interesting, although it looked more as if the collection were designed by Custo Barcelona. Algunas de las piezas de Matthew Williamson eran interesantes, aunque parecian como si fueran diseñadas por Custo Barcelona.

I did not like at all the collection of Michael Cors and the collection Marc by Marc Jacobs. I found both very little original. Las colecciones de Michael Cors and Marc by Marc Jacobs no me han gustado nada. Las encontre ambas muy poco originales.

Repetto...just like dancing!

Walking around London, something like 5 years ago, I discovered in a shoe shop a brand called Repetto. I could not resist from trying a couple on. For some reason, they reminded me a little bit the ballet shoes we had when we were little…and I was not wrong. The brand Repetto started as a ballet shoe brand…and of course from that day, also my love for the brand started.

When Rose Repetto created her first ballet shoes in 1947 in her tiny workshop of Paris, she was looking for refinement and elegance, in order to fulfil the wish of her son Roland Petit, the famous ballet dancer. In 1956, Brigitte Bardot asks Rose Repetto to create a pair of ballet shoes for her. The ‘cendrillon’ shoe is created and dedicated to her. BB wares them in the film ‘And God Created Woman’. After the movie, this model becomes a big sale success and it is renamed to the 'BB' model.

Repetto's famous ballet flats have become legendary all over the world. Today the production of each shoe remains completely traditional and is surrounded with various quality controls. Designers such as Issey Miyake and Yohji Yamamoto have developed a lot of new styles. Beyond ballet flats, Repetto now sells everything from high heels to handbags.
